We’re proud to share some exciting news: Cloud and Field has secured a $100,000 investment from the University at Buffalo’s Cultivator program. This milestone marks an important step forward in our mission to make farm automation affordable, accessible, and farmer-first.
Tackling the Challenges Farmers Face
Farmers everywhere are dealing with two major constraints: time and labor. Finding skilled workers is becoming more difficult and more expensive, while the demands of running a modern farm continue to grow. At Cloud and Field, we believe technology should help relieve these pressures, not add complexity.
That’s why we created the DVE-1, a plug-in automation device compatible with most post-2008 tractors. With DVE-1, farmers can direct their equipment using nothing more than a cellphone, turning tractors into intelligent, autonomous machines that get the work done safely and efficiently.
A Farmer-First Solution
Our design philosophy is simple: build tools that work the way farmers need them to. Initially, we imagined building fully automated tractors. But after listening closely to local farmers, we shifted gears to focus on an adaptable plug-in solution. This makes automation accessible without requiring the purchase of new machinery.
As one farmer told us, “We need all the help we can get.” That stuck with us — and it’s what drives everything we do.
Building in Western New York
The Cultivator program’s investment provides not just capital but also validation of our vision. It allows us to accelerate field testing with Rochester Institute of Technology and prepare for a broader release in the spring.
We’re proud to grow Cloud and Field right here in Western New York. Our roots are local, and our commitment is to build partnerships with area farms and investors who share our belief in making agriculture smarter, safer, and more sustainable.
What’s Next
With this funding, our team will expand development, grow our partnerships, and continue refining the DVE-1 for the farmers who need it most. We believe this is just the beginning.
If you’re a farmer interested in early access to our technology, or an investor who shares our vision, we’d love to hear from you. Together, we can empower agriculture for the future.
